2011 Zanon Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley

“The way Zinfandel should taste.”™

-Vineyard Sources-

The Zinfandel vineyards are located on the hillsides in the scenic and bucolic setting of the Dry Creek Valley. This region has long been considered the Mecca for great Zinfandel. The Zinfandel vines are head-pruned and hand-picked.

-Technical Information-

Appellation: Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, CA

Aging: 12 months in American Oak

Alcohol: 14.0%

-Winemaking-

A cool growing season in the vineyards included a lower yield and delayed ripening. The grapes were harvested over the last week of September, before the rains. The resulting fruit retained well developed flavor, outstanding balance, and deep quality of fruit. Fermentation occurred in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and daily pumpovers were done to extract color and flavor from the skins. The wine was then aged in American oak barrels for 12 months.

-Tasting Notes-

Zanon Zinfandel is a classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. The wine presents brambly raspberry notes with a touch of spiciness in a very elegant style. The blend is 85% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 3% Syrah, and 2% Sangiovese.

The three blended grape varietals add layers of color, structure, and tannin. Enjoy this cork finished “Claret Style” Zinfandel now or cellar for three to five years.
